Mihai (Mike) Popovich – Obituary

Mihai (Mike) Popovich was born June 8th 1936 in Bucharest, Romania. His father died when he was only nine years old and as the oldest boy in the home, he quickly and without hesitation, assumed the role of “the man of the house” at a very young age to help his family.

He lived through many tough times including wars, communism, famine, poverty, health issues and yet always trusted, loved and followed the Lord, reading his Bible daily. A master in his trade, he worked hard to provide for his family and bring them out of Communist Romania to America in 1984 where he lived until his passing.

Mike was a wonderful man, devoted to God and to his family.  He loved to go to church and was an avid follower of the word of God. He listened to music with great joy and his voice echoes through our homes as he always led our family in prayer. He was a true patriarch in our family, a man who loved us.

He was a gentle soul and a wonderful brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His suffering earthly body left this world to be with the Lord on February 2nd 2022.

He leaves behind his children and their families: Mihai, Cristi, Cristina, Mark and Emanuel & their spouses. He was a beloved grand and great grandfather, the best Tataia we could have asked for, to: Gabriela, Robert, Aiden, Preston, Lucas, Noah and Evelyn. He also leaves behind his sister Elena and John Birladeanu and their families whom he loved and enjoyed so much.

Although he suffered very much recently due to his deteriorating health, we have peace and know that even though our bodies will begin to fail, we will rise again thanks to Jesus Christ who came, suffered, died and rose again for us.

He was loved very much and we will miss him dearly.

We know our Tata, our Tataia, will rise again in Heaven.
