Radu Guțu
April 13, 1936 – September 5, 2025
Radu Gutu was born on April 13, 1936 in Brăila, Romania, one of twelve children to Andrei and Paraschiva. He grew up in a time of hardship but his tireless work ethic and strength shaped him into a man of great character.
Radu was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Elena, and their son, Andrei. Together Radu and Elena had a blessed life and raised four children: Andrei, Emil, Gina, and Mioara. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A man of wisdom and faith, Radu was known for his hardworking nature and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether working with his hands to build something tangible, tending to his garden, or offering comfort to those around him, Radu’s life was a reflection of his love for the Lord.
In his early years he began working at the age of 12. He moved to Bucharest alone where he continued his schooling, during high school he met his wife, Elena. He served in the army and they married at the age of 24. He trained at foreman school and in 1965 he traveled to Paris, France for work. He trained and worked as manager in an optical factory (Intreprinderea Optica Romana – IOR) in Bucharest during the challenging years of communist Romania. His integrity and dedication earned him the respect of those who worked with him. He had big dreams, ideas and inventions and always kept his mind and hands busy.
He built their home by hand and always told his children: “In life you have to make a house, have children, plant trees, so that something remains after you are gone.”
After retirement in his village of Uzunu, Romania, he proudly built a church next to his home, Isus Lumina Lumii (“Jesus, the Light of the World”), and served as a deacon. Together with his wife, studied the history of religions for 5 years at missionary school in Oradea. He put a lot of work but especially a lot of soul into serving the church. His faith was the foundation of his life.
Radu was a God-fearing man who shared the gospel with all who crossed his path.
As a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, Radu passed away suddenly on September 5, 2025, at the age of 89 and ran into our Lord’s arms.
His sudden passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his legacy of service and faith will live on. His example of living a life of purpose, dedication, and strength is one that will be remembered.
A small family service will be held in his honor Tuesday September 9, 2025 at 1pm at the Hamilton Mill Funeral home in Buford, GA.
Radu will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
