Solomon Dragu was born on November 30th 1927 in Bolvasnita, Caras Severin county, being the third of the six children Pavel and Floarea Dragu had together; they were: Paraschiva, Simion, Solomon, Maria, Floarea and Ilinca. He was blessed to be born in a Christian Baptist family. His father, Pavel, and his mom, Floarea, were Baptist believers, dad was the founder of the Baptist church in Bolvasnita. Solomon had the chance to come in contact with the Scripture even when he was a little boy, and he was part of the local church youth in his young age. He attended the elementary and middle school in his native village, having the Orthodox priest Ioan Munteanu as his teacher. At the age of 14 he enters the vocational school for mechanics beside the machine factory in Resita, and graduates after 4 years. During these years he worked as an apprentice at the factory, and became friends with the Baptist young people in Resita, because the latter used to visit his native church on spring and summer vacations. In 1945 he decides to follow God, and after a while is baptized by brother Radula Pavel, pastor of the local church. He put all his energy and talent in serving the Lord, singing in the church choir and playing in the brass band, leading the youth groups in missions around his village and in Resita. In 1956 he marries Brindusa Cocirtau, a young lady from church, and they will stay married until the end of his life. God blessed their family with two kids, Paraschiva and Pavel, who were a huge help for their parents. Starting 1966, Solomon Dragu supported his family working as a mechanic at the machine factory in Caransebes. He commuted every day, riding the bus, thus being able to live at home and being active in the local church on Sunday and over the week. They raised their two kids in church, instilling the faith and worship for God, consequently both Paraschiva and Pavel served the Lord all their lives. They both got married and had their own family: Paraschiva got married to Petru Olariu, from Valisoara, and they have two kids together: Ovidiu and Petru. Presently they live in Valisoara, Caras-Severin county, where they serve the Lord in the local church.
Pavel married Mariana from Caransebes, and the Lord blessed them with four kids: Paul, Claudiu, Silviu and Dani.
Solomon Dragu retires in 1986, now having more time to work in the fields, and enjoy his children and grandchildren, the joy of his life.
After 1985 Paraschiva and Pavel decide to move to the US with their families, thus she gets to Atlanta, Ga in 1987, and Pavel a year later, 1988, also in Atlanta. Solomon and Brindusa decide to join their kids in America, getting to Atlanta in 1991, where they will live till the end of their lives. In America God blesses Pavel and Mariana’s family with three more kids, Alex, Alin and Kristine, bringing more joy in their grandparents’ lives, who are happy to see the whole family together. Solomon and his wife become members of FRBS Atlanta, pastor Teofil Cocian, being together with the family and the church people who surrounded them with love.
By God’s grace, Solomon got to live a long life of 91 years, rejoicing with his 9 grandkids and their families, and 6 great grandkids, a big, blessed family. After the age of 90 his health has deteriorated, thus he had to be mostly bedridden, and needing medical attention. All this period his son, Pavel with his family, his grandson, Ovidiu Olariu, as well as the church family were of tremendous help. After more than a year, his health has gotten worse and worse, thus on November 13th 2019, the good Lord called him home.
