Marcel (Marcu) Simonca – Obituary

Marcel (Marcu) Simonca was born in Arad, Romania to parents Ioan and Livia Simonca. He was the 3rd oldest of four brothers (Otinel, Daniel, Marcel, and John). His parents were believers and he and his brothers were raised in Christian household. At age of 17, Marcu dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized. He developed a love for soccer at a very early age because of his father. At the age of 18, he was on the path to become a professional soccer player for UTA Arad, but his family moved to the United States to escape communism and for a better life.

When coming to America, the Simonca family took residence in Chicago for 5 years before moving to Adrian, Michigan for 4 years. In his 20s, Marcu was full of life and energy. He continued his love for the game, took up boxing, loved hunting, and even joined a biker gang. At the age of 27, Marcu and the entire Simonca family moved down to Georgia. At 32, he married the love of his life, Lucci Simonca and had three kids together (Sonny Adams, Christian John, and Daniel Samson).

Marcel also had a real love for music specifically opera which he instilled in his kids at a very young age. He taught his children how to sing, cook, play soccer, drive, and many other things. But most importantly, he and his wife instilled in their children, a reverence for the Creator and a love for the study and discussion of the Scriptures. In 2022, Sonny and his wife, Lois, gave Marcu his first grandchild, Jacob Graham-Sinclair Simonca.

Although Marcu was not the outwardly emotional type, he loved his family and his children, but he always showed his outward affection and love for Sinclair with the biggest grins, loudest laughter and the warmest embraces. Marcu Simonca passed away on June 5th, 2024 and was loved by every one of his family members. Marcu left a legacy of love, laughter, strength, and a constant desire to understand the deeper meanings of life, one that his family will carry on forever.
